I²IT and the Poona Blind Men’s Association sign MoU

“Education is not just about degrees and placements, we want our students to be good human beings, socially conscientious professionals who will give back to society in any way they can. So when Social Venture Partners, Pune introduced the idea, we were happy to taken it on and share the responsibility with SVP Pune” – said Mrs Aruna M Katara, President, Hope Foundation and Research Centre. The idea is to set up a “Technical Training Institute” in Hinjawadi where the visually challenged can be given vocational training that could help them become independent and self reliant.

This project will be driven by Social Venture Partners Pune, I²IT and PBMA equally. Swapnil Khambayat will be the faculty mentor to the volunteer students and will co-ordinate the activities with the training institute. Mr J P Banerjee, Hon’ Director, Mr Rajesh Kapashe, CEO and Mr Tushar Jagtap, Training & Placement Officer, all from the Technical Training Institute, Poona Blind Men’s Association were present during the signing of the MoU. They appreciated the enthusiasm and sensitivity of the management and the students of I²IT to help those who need it.
