The 12th episode of the Women’s Prowess was held at the Mohini Chhabria Convention Centre, International Institute of Information Technology, I²IT, Pune today. The event was hosted jointly by Natarajan Education Society (NES), and I²IT.
Aimed at inspiring, motivating, encouraging and empowering young women to reach for the stars and be the best they can be, this event had a distinct panel discussion, a special talk by the Guest of Honour, Abha Bakaya (Broadcast journalist, producer and host) and the keynote address by the Police Commissioner of Pune, Hon’ble Mrs. Rashmi Shukla.
After the lighting of the traditional lamp at I2IT Vidya Jyoti, the introductory welcome was addressed by Dr. Ganesh Natarajan, Principal Trustee, Natarajan Education Society, who welcomed the dignitaries and spoke about the importance of young women taking on the mantel and breaking new ground, empowering herself and/or others or challenging stereotypes prevalent in society. He also stressed that if India had to truly emerge as super power, then it is imperative that the younger generation take the initiative to help increase the economic power of the country, along with the social power.
The panel discussion that focused on the role of Women in Transforming India was chaired by Dr. Uma Ganesh, CEO Global Talent Track and the panellists were Ms. Vaishali Vaid, Vice President, Head – Global HR, KPIT, Ms. Rakhi Sinha, Global Head – HR Business Partner & HR Operations, Geometric Limited, Dr. Parul Ganju, Co-founder, Director at Ahammune Biosciences Pvt Ltd, and Ms. Eika Chaturvedi Banerjee, CEO, Future Learning, a Future Group company. The mentioned dignitaries gave their views on how women play a pivotal part of any country’s economic and social fabric.
Following the panel discussion, the Guest of Honor, Mrs. Abha Bakaya (Broadcast journalist, Producer and Host), spoke to the audience how important is the role of every woman in the society and how many successful women are looked up to in society due to their contributions and commitments. She further gave an insight on her story and how her efforts got her to who she is today.
The keynote speaker, Hon’ble Mrs. Rashmi Shukla (Police Commissioner of Pune) shared her experiences as a police officer with regard to women issues. She advised young women to be careful but emphasised that parents need to make their boys understand and teach them to respect women. Her enlightening talk was appreciated by all present.
The vote of thanks was presented by the principal of I²IT, Dr. Vaishali Patil. She shared her experience as the host of Women’s Prowess for the last 12 years and why it is important to reiterate the message of equality, empowerment and respect among the student community.
The event was attended by corporate executives, students and faculty members from various colleges in Pune.
