One Day Fort Conservation Drive at Malhargad
The NSS Unit of I²IT, in collaboration with DY Patil College, Pune, organised a Fort Conservation Drive at Malhargad on 9 March 2025, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, highlighting how crucial fort conservation is for honouring history and protecting cultural heritage. Volunteers, including Gaurav and Ved, took part in restoration work, cleaning and the inspection of bastions (buruj) to support the fort’s upkeep. They also learned about Malhargad’s history and its strategic significance, deepening their appreciation of the site. The initiative not only contributed to the fort’s preservation but also instilled a sense of responsibility, patriotism and cultural awareness among participants. Working outdoors across a long day, the volunteers demonstrated teamwork and commitment to heritage conservation. Their work at Malhargad linked hands-on service with learning about local history. The NSS Unit remains committed to safeguarding India’s historical landmarks for future generations through hands-on drives and collaborations with partner colleges.
