FITNESS EVENT SUMMARY 2020-21
The unprecedented pandemic of Covid-19 brought with it an abrupt lockdown affecting our colleges and impacting all our lives, leaving us to navigate the significant changes to work and lifestyle. At International Institute of Information technology (I²IT) college, we were locked down, but we were not closed down – there were no face-to-face sports events, but our core activities of sports were still carried out, thanks to the quick thinking and a tremendous effort by the college Management and the Sports Committee.
Catching up on exercises, tuning into online sports activities and appreciating the enthusiastic spirit can help get us through lockdown, but we cannot deny the lack of physical activity due to restricted movement and its immediate health concerns. With this in mind, we launched the Virtual Fitness Event called as “Mr. and Miss FIT” in October where activities were streamed online with students watching at home and feeling invested with the organized exercise routine. This fitness event is one among several initiatives the college is running during lockdown.
Online sports eventwas effectively launched and executed throughout the lockdown period. This included push-ups, crunches, pull-ups, yogic Asanas followed by few challenges like Cardiovascular Endurance challenge, Balancing challenge, etc. We were successfully able to do this event online keeping the current pandemic situation in mind and the importance of exercise in our day-to –day life.
We are sharing an experience which is unique and unprecedented and yet it is communal and worth enjoying.
It is important that we preserve our traditions by adapting them to new times and new circumstances. Lockdown has brought this evermore into focus as we continue to find new and innovative ways to aid the all-round development of our students helping them draw confidence and making them achieve their full potential even while we are apart.
Here is a glimpse of the events along with the participants who enthusiastically participated in the event.
