Policy & Scheme(s) for Research, Development, Consultancy and Collaboration (RDCC)Cell

Research Development, Consultancy and Collaboration (RDCC)cellis an eminent wing of academics to churn out the various technological solutions for the betterment of quality of life. I2IT encourages and facilitates the environment to undertake sponsored and consultancy projects by its research team. RDCC cell intends to have collaborative research programmes in association with top research institutes in India and abroad. An interdisciplinary approach is encouraged to involve different research and consultancy activities for the Industries throughout the academic year. Research activities by various departments& centres of excellence of the Institution will be enthused by the RDCC cell periodically.

1. Objectives

  1. To nurture students and faculty members, to undertake innovative research ideas and projects through sponsored research programmes/projects supported by various national and international funding agencies.
  2. To promote interdisciplinary research by creating centres of excellence in the niche research domains at the institute level.
  3. To facilitate collaboration of the researchers with their potential counterparts among other research institutions, academic and industries through MoUs and MoAs.
  4. To provide networking environment &opportunities for students & faculty members with experts, mentors, advisors, consultants and angel investors for innovation and incubation.
  5. To encourage students, staff and faculty members to publish papers in peer-reviewed high impact factor/international reputed journals and also ensuring the channelizing of filing Patents and Intellectual Property Rights in apt procedures.
  6. To endorse the on-going institute wide research projects& it’s performance accordingly.

2. Policies

2.1 RDCC cell will encourage faculty members to organize events/programs (Symposium/Workshop/ Trainings etc) related to Research, Development, Consultancy and Collaboration every year, to enhance the required expertise at research.

2.2. RDCC cell may propose novel schemes/policies and/or modify existing scheme/policy for student/faculty research projects and/or publications. Every scheme/policy must have clearly stated attributes like rules & regulations along with well-defined procedure/mechanism of implementation. Committee can launch any new scheme/policy only after the approval from the concerned authority for all its attributes. (e.g., providing financial support for faculty members for attending conference, Research related workshops/ seminars/ etc).

2.3. RDCC cell will perform competency mapping and training need analysis for various technical domains and interdisciplinary fields from time to time and encourage faculty members for acquiring expertise so that they can be resource personnel for workshops/ trainings etc outside the institute.

2.4. RDCC cell shall strive for opportunity exploration and networking of research institutions, academic and industries for getting funded projects, consultancy and/or collaboration throughs MoA’s& MoU’s.

2.5. In case of funded projects, after excluding all expenses, remaining amount will be distributed as follows,

Institute share: 30%

Principle Investigator (PI) & Team :70 %

2.6 RDCC cell shall support 50% of the registration fee (up to maximum of Rs. 10,000/-) after due sanction from the authority.

2.7 RDCC cell shall ensure the faculty members and staff adhere to the code of ethics and plagiarism of research outcomes.

2.8 On duty leave will be granted to faculty members who will be involved into research activities supported on a substantial basis.

2.9 Revenue generated through collaborative activities by faculty members of the institute will be distributed in the similar manner as that of consultancy/funded projects, and provisions can be availed accordingly.

3. Desired Outcome of aforesaid policies

3.1 Culture: Research environment will encourage faculty members to engage themselves into high quality research with students along with regular teaching activities.

3.2 Performance: High quality research and publications will increase the overall productivity of faculty members and students.

3.3 Employment Opportunities: Sponsored research and consultancy projects will involve efficient students with research inclination who would be hired by the sponsoring organization.

3.4 Fellowship/ Scholarship Opportunities: Students who are involved into the sponsored/consultancy projectscan besupported by corresponding assistance ship.

3.5 Recognition: Centre of excellence and Special Interest Groups (SIG) will lead to acquire strong recognition at national and international research centres in their respective fields. 

4. Scheme(s)

4.1 RDCC cell can select few top-quality in-house student projects through well-defined mechanism and may provide financial support and/or acknowledge the quality of projects by issuing certificate of appreciation to students.

Outline

4.1.1. Committee shall announce the project/ idea competition in August every year. This competition to be held in the month of March of that academic year would involve every final year student of UG of all branches.

4.1.2. Judges shall judge the projects based on predefined marking scheme.

4.1.3. In this competition, live demonstration of every project is expected.

 

4.2. RDCC cell may grant funds for in-house/research based project(s) of faculty & staff.

Outline

4.2.1. Faculty/Staff member(s) has to prepare project proposal and submit to RDCC cell.

4.2.2. RDCC cell shall review it from various aspects and will place the proposal along with its opinion & recommendations in meeting with authority for further discussion and corresponding decision.

4.2.3. RDCC cell shall convey the decision along with all the terms and conditions regarding the project proposal.

4.3.4 RDCC cell may provide financial support as per institute policy for presenting research paper in National/International conference and/or participating in seminar/ workshop/ competitions. It is mandatory to have affiliation of the institute in publications of any form; articles in magazines, papers in conference proceedings, journal papers, patents and any other outcomes of the research project.

5. Guidelines

5.1 All departments shall encourage the faculty members to apply for sponsored and/or consultancy projects.

5.2 Copy of every funded/non-funded research proposal must be submitted to RDCC cell.

5.3 Principle Investigator shall sign the acceptance of all terms and conditions of RDCC cell.

5.4 Principle Investigator shall submit a copy of progress report every 6 months of on-going project, from the date of release of funds to the project.

5.5. Principle Investigator shall submit a copy of final project report & publications achieved along with budget utility records on completion of project to RDCC cell.

6. Rules/Guidelines for RDCC committee 

6.1 Shall meet at-least once in a semester or as per the need.

6.3 Record keeping of all minutes of meeting & interaction and reporting to authority correspondingly.

6.2 Settle the account of every program separately within 15 days from date of program.
