About The National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year in 1969.
Motto of NSS:
“Not Me But You”,
The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are :
i. Understand the community in which they work
ii. Understand themselves in relation to their community
iii. Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
iv. Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
v. Utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
vi. Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
vii. Gain skills in mobilising community participation
viii. Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
ix. Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and
x. Practise national integration and social harmony
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS. The NSS is a seminary that offers youth leadership in college and provides social service lessons. At our college, 50 students get the opportunity to participate in this scheme. 25 of them can participate in a seven days residential camp. Various activities are organized through the National Service Scheme to develop leadership qualities among the students and create social interest among them. Residential camp is organized in the rural areas. It provides students with an opportunity to closely monitor their lives, social life, and problems in a village.
Activities like guest lectures, visits to social organizations, participation in Dehuvari, exhibitions, blood donation camp, voter awareness program, tree plantation, donation for victims of flood etc. are organized with the active participation of students to create awareness of various social issues. This gives them leadership, planning and event management education. From the perspective of developing the overall personality of the students, the participation in NSS is very helpful. Every year a seven-day residential camp is organized in rural areas. It provides students with an opportunity to closely monitor the living style, social life, and problems in rural areas.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) represents a prominent youth-oriented program within our institute, designed to cultivate social responsibility, community engagement, and personal development among students. Amrit Kalash Handover Ceremony
The Amrit Kalash Ceremony, held on September 26, 2023, was a tribute to India’s sacred soil and the vibrant spirit of its youth. Organized by Mr. J.P. Nadda, Former Union Minister and National President of BJP, along with Honorable Shri. Chandrakant Patil, Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Maharashtra, the event highlighted unity and cultural diversity. On January 29, 2024, the NSS unit organized an eye check-up camp in Khamboli village. On March 12, 2024, the NSS Unit of International Institute of Information Technology teamed up with Bharati Dental College and Hospital to organize a free health check-up camp. Lohagad Fort Cleanliness Drive
On 11 February 2024, volunteers from the I²IT NSS Committee embarked on a trip to Lohagad Fort, an ancient fort in Maharashtra. The primary objective of this initiative was to contribute to the preservation and cleanliness of the fort, ensuring its safety and sustainability. The volunteers began by collecting litter, including plastic wrappers and bottles. Despite the challenging hot weather, the team worked diligently, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie. In the current pandemic scenario, Blood Donation becomes the real act of humanity, as it can mean the world to someone in need. In this view a blood donation camp was organised by NSS Unit, I²IT, Pune. In all Twenty (20) bags each of 350 ml blood was donated by Students and faculty members of I²IT. Kerala Flood Relief
As Kerala struggles with floods and intense rain throughout the state for the past 10 days, I²IT steps up to support in a small way. The students, faculty members and staff members came forward to contribute essential items like grains, pulses, blankets, bed sheets, pillow covers, diapers, detergents, emergency medicines, and non-perishable food items. Some also contributed in cash, which will be sent to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
